Women's Cricket: England thrash Sri Lanka by 122 runs to lead series 2-0

England thrashed Sri Lanka in the Second Women's ODI by 122 runs to take the lead of the 4-match series by 2-0 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today (12). 

Put on to bat first England went on a rapid pace to post 295 runs after Heather Knight, Laura Winfield and Natalie Sciver scored half centuries. 

Opener Winfield faced 72 deliveries and hit six fours during her knock of 51 while in contrast Natalie Sciver smased 51 off just 27 deliveries with nine fours and a six. 

But the top scorer for England was Knight, who hit 53 off 58 deliveries inclusive of three fours and three sixes.

Georgia Elwiss hit a 36-ball 46 inclusive of eight boundaries while skipper Inoka Ranaweera and Ama Kanchana shared six scalps between them. 

Sripali Weerakkody picked two wickets. 

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 173 with seven deliveries remaining with opener Hasini Perera top scoring 35. 

She faced 90 deliveries and hit three fours and a six. 

Chamari Polgampola (33) and Nipuni Hansika (32) fought well with useful knocks but failed to make an impact on the team's outcome. 

Polgampola faced 47 deliveries and hit five boundaries and Hansika's knock came off 43 balls inclusive of four boundaries.

Danielle Hazell claimed three wickets while Laura Marsh picked two scalps. 

The third game will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday (15).
