Brazilian President Michel Temer said the government is seeking financial assistance from companies as well as banks in a bid to rebuild the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro which was destroyed after being engulfed in flames yesterday, BBC reported.

Further, the BBC quoted Museum officials saying almost 90 percent of the collection in the museum has been destroyed due to the fire. Education Minister Rossieli Soares said help was also being sought on a global scale from organizations such as the UNESCO.
Commenting on the aftermath of the event, the staff at the museum said the fire was a result of funding cuts, the report claimed.
