LAHORE, Pakistan — An apparent suicide bombing killed at least four people outside a police complex in eastern Pakistan on Tuesday, officials said, in a rare attack on the relatively peaceful city of Lahore.
Initial reports suggest a man on foot ran toward the gate of one of the main police buildings in Lahore and blew himself up, said Lahore Police Chief Amin Wains, who set the death toll.
Several people were also wounded in the blast and some nearby buildings caught on fire, said police spokesman Haidar Ashraf. Live television footage from the scene showed smoke billowing from the building and people fleeing. Pakistani rescue authorities could be seen hosing down a smoking building as other officials set up screens to keep media and onlookers away. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, through the country faces a Taliban insurgency and other threats from Islamic extremist groups. You can share this post!
