Speaking at the 73rd UN General Assembly, US President Donald Trump accused China of allegedly attempting to “meddle” with the forthcoming polls in the US.
"Regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election, coming up in November, against my administration," he said.
China and the US have been in a battle over tariffs since Trump’s election to office.
However China’s foreign minister Wang Yi denounced the “unwarranted accusation”.
