While the United States and Sri Lanka were embroiled in a diplomatic row over the alleged human rights violations here, US ambassador Robert Blake played an extraordinary role not as chief of staff but chef of staff. At a show to raise funds for children with cancer, Ambassador Blake joined other VIPs in donning the kit of a chef to make the food of their choice — and his choice was tortillas, a Mexican stuffed bread. Human rights battle with US to be pursued
In a growing diplomatic row between Sri Lanka and the United States, the Government wants to pursue the controversy over the US human rights report on Sri Lanka despite Washington’s insistence that it stands by the report’s contents. The Government will submit a detailed report to the US Embassy in Colombo, Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said yesterday.

'Knight' rides again World Book Day at British Council
Knight Rider is back – a quarter of a century after the original series. There's a new car, a new driver, and some smooth CGI to make it all look real. It most certainly is bigger, but is it better? The pilot aired in February.....
In order to celebrate World Book Day, the children's section of the British Council, Colombo, organized a painting session for its library members between 8 and 15 years, on Saturday, March 8, 2008. Around 100 children painted their favourite book characters and animals on fabric panels.
