When Honourable Chaminda Pusswedilla came into the political limelight two years ago, little was known of his humble upbringings at the quiet hamlet – Kotaudagama. But it was not long before everyone knew of his resolve, resolutions, remarks and reverberating personality, as he went on from strength to strength, to take the public by storm. Today, “Puss” is on everyone’s mouth while the question being asked is “When will He come?”
In an exclusive interview, Hon. Puss has reveled to us that after a short state paid ‘holiday’ in an undisclosed Mediterranean island, he is now back in Sri Lanka to “taste the ticklebuds” of young and old alike.
Speaking on his recent feats Puss said that in fact he toured France, England, South Africa and USA. “It was very tiring,” said Puss speaking of the journey. “We started with breakfast at Elizabeth’s. The Queen was so maara nice men.
She cooked breakfast herself. From morning she was in the kitchen making the milk rice for us. Only problem is she was putting the samba for the Kiribath and the whole thing full chora scene. Everything maara bora, like paappa. Anyway I took some Organic Karawala for her from Sri Lanka and she was very happy.”
“Elizzie (that’s my special name for her) took me on a walk in the garden. I think that fellow Pillip is a bit jealous. He is always coming and standing behind me. Since I had Kiribath, Karawala and baked beans tikak stomach bara bara noises also making,” said Hon. Puss.
Puss said that he also got an invitation to visit France where he was very impressed with Carla Brooni. “President Nicolas lives in a maara house called the elysee palace. The beautiful wife Carla Bruni sang for us also. I ask her to sing “Surangani” but she not know the words. President Sarko played the French plute. I sang a baila for them. They eat snails and frogs. So much money but eating golubellas!” said Puss about the experience. He further stated that “The French people don’t drink water. Only with medicine, otherwise wine and wine and wine. Must ask Bernard to set up an Alternate Alcohol Plant in France. Can earn lots of foreign currency for Lanka. I am also thinking of G&G Exports to France. Quality Gembaas and Golubellas from Sri Lanka.”
The Pusswedialla Office has also proposed a new Laugh Tax, where a Bill in this regard has already been prepared under the Chortle Act, No. 01 of 2009. The proposed tax will apply to all individuals regardless of gender, ethnicity or provincial location. Even foreign nationals in Sri Lanka will be subject to the Laugh Tax. Though opposition has been rising, Hon. Puss has vowed to campaign for the new tax under the theme ‘Laugh for your Country.’ It is reported that tax some rebates have already been given through Pusswedilla Economic Relief Discount (PERD) Vouchers offered during the past weeks while details posters have been put up at public places.
Hon. Puss commented that “I want to inform the publics that they can laugh as much as they want without having to pay the Laugh Tax, only at the Lynel Went, and only from 19th - 28th of June.”
