Heavy Metal will be the theme of the day, when popular metal band ‘Tantrum’ will come alive at the ‘Keg’ at Excel World on Sunday, June 21 from 2.30 to 7.30pm.
The Tantrum heavy metal show will feature some of the heavy names in the metal scene such as ‘Funeral in Heaven’, ‘Merlock’, LOA and ‘Forsaken’.
After rocking the scene for five years, Tantrum hss now become the most-sought-after rock and heavy metal bands in the local music scene.
‘We have shed our blood, sweat and tears for the development and the progress of the band. So I think it is time for the celebrations. Come celebrate the 5 year reign with Tantrum, let’s bleed for Heavy Metal and bleed for your Passion; said Javeen Soysa, the leader of the band.
The ‘Tanrum in Concert’, the whole evening of fun and passion is prized as Rs. 500/- per head and ladies can join the fun for just Rs. 250/- According to Javeen, the band’s style is considered to be Progressive Thrash Metal, with a touch of technical Death Metal with various melodic elements. Classical, Blues, Jazz and Eastern elements are also influential to the band.
Tantrum recorded and released their first single titled ‘The Destroyer’ which became a overnight hit and reached no 1 on, TNL’s SL Hot 10. They joined Rock Company, which is one of the main organizations promoting the Rock/Metal bands in Sri Lanka, after their chart success. Soon afterwards, Tantrum released their second single titled “Alone,” impressing their fans. Tantrum was also one of the few bands to take part in TNL Onstage for the first time and awarded winners of the competition, in 2005.
The band then released an EP titled “The Destruction Begins” in 200. Soon after, the band went through a major line-up change. Currently the band line-up consists of Javeen Soysa, on lead vocals and bass, Akila Pieris on guitar, Arjun Dhas on guitar and Tharaka Seneviratne on drums. |
