Quizzing is a different theme of spending leisure. It is also a subject that compliments the academic field while at the same time they derive enjoyment and pleasure. Nowadays quizzing which updates day by day fosters the entire world.

The General Knowledge Club of Visakha Vidyalaya proudly presented the Annual Inter-school Quiz Competition for the 12th consecutive year. Members of the General Knowledge Club, with excellent talents have given great renown to Visakha Quiz emblem by winning major quiz titles as well as television and radio quizzes since its inauguration in 1996.

The event took place at Visakha Vidyalaya Main Hall on June 5 2009 from2.30 pm onwards with the guidance of Madam Principal Mrs. Sandamali Ariruppola, Deputy Principals and teachers in charge. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Ajantha Pahathkumpura, Deputy Principal-Administration.

"Light de Esprit"
With the intention of promoting quizzing through engaging minds on issues relating to various topics and imparting knowledge to the school community and with a view which went beyond textbooks, it was an excellent opportunity to interlink themselves with all the quiz teams in one place.

The mechanism of the quiz was a table quiz which consisted of five rounds, comprising ten questions at each round, categorized into current affairs, history and geography, science and technology, arts and sports. After the five rounds two teams which scored best were selected to an oral round. Thurstan College Colombo and Richmond College Galle battled out in the oral round which consisted of another 3 rounds.

Thurstan College, Colombo emerged champions, while Richmond College Galle emerged runner up. The team members of Thurstan College were Geewantha Weerasinghe(Captain), Uneth Sapumalbandara, Madushka Sooriyabandara and Manesh Kalansuriya.

The President of Visakha Quiz Club, Nadeera Karavita and the Committee wish to thank all the quiz teams who participated in this quizzical phenomenon by performing their multilateral knowledge.
