CMR Group of Institutions which began its operations as a school in 1994 has now evolved into an educational giant which boasts of 14 different institutions to its credit.
These institutions offer courses ranging from kindergarten to post graduate in the fields of engineering, education, law and paramedical studies.
During a visit to the country recently K.C Ramamurthy, the Chairman of the CMR Group gave a detailed description about the courses they offer "the CMR group of institutions provide a wide range of courses for those interested in pursuing their higher education in the chosen field. We offer both graduate and post graduate courses in bio chemistry, micro biology and bio technology.
The CMR Institute of Management Studies offers programs like B.B.M - bachelor of business management alongside the MBA affiliated to the Bangalore University, the MBA affiliated to the VTU (Visweshwariah Technology University), and a post graduate diploma in Business Management approved by the government of India and AICTE (all India council for technical education).Students interested in the Commerce stream can follow B.Com or M.Com while we also have courses on computer science, electronics and computer science, telecommunication, bio technology, civil mechanics and electrical studies."
CMR Group of Institutions also offers graduate and post graduate programs for budding journalists in the fields of journalism and electronic media through their Institute of Media Studies.
The CMR group of Institutions which is situated at Bangalore, India has an International school in Singapore and boasts of a student population of 15, 000.
The CMR group of Institutions is inching outwards becoming a deemed university says Mr.Ramamurthy who added that the necessary procedures are on the brink of completion.
"There are many Sri Lankan students studying with us. Most of them have enrolled on merit and earned scholarships to enter the university with the support of the Indian high Commission. In addition there are also several students who have directly enrolled themselves to pursue their higher education with us. As of now over 1000 Sri Lankan students have passed out with graduate or post graduate degrees and I'm proud to say that these students are committed, hardworking and determined which has kept them ahead of the others," he mentioned when discussing about the Sri Lankan student population.
Mr.Ramamurthy further noted that the CMR Group which is a family owned venture is a result of the obsession and determination to provide quality education to students.
He also added "our delivery and course content is what makes us stand out amongst the others. We pay personal attention to develop each student's skill in order to help them be on par with the others. There are students from over 34 countries studying at the CMR group of Institutions and this brings a congregation of cultures and religions in turn creating a conducive learning environment.

Elaborating on reasons behind his visit Mr.Ramamurthy said "I decided to visit the country to get an understanding of how enthusiastic Sri Lankan youth are to pursue their higher education. I also hope to establish a Modal centre here in Sri Lanka to create a link between the students and their parents. Through the centre the parents will be able to monitor the progress of their child."
