The University of Greenwich traces its roots to 1890, when Britain's second polytechnic was opened near the Thames at Woolwich to teach practical and commercial skills to London workers. Over the years a range of specialist organisations have joined the institution, giving it the diverse strengths it has today in subjects such as architecture, business, computing, engineering and science. University status was awarded in 1992.
Just one of our areas of expertise is Computing and Mathematics. The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences is situated next to the River Thames within a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is less than 5 miles from Central London. It is an extremely successful part of the university, with the Maths department ranked 10th in the UK in the Times Good University Guide 2007, whilst Computing Sciences has been ranked above all other London new (post 1992) universities in successive league tables (Times Good University Guide 2006).
The School is recognised both nationally and internationally for its cutting edge research and its innovative approach to curriculum development. The School has pioneered degree programmes in Computing, Information Systems, Multimedia Technology, Interactive Multimedia Games, Networking, Internet and Web Technologies, Data Mining, Mathematics, Statistics, Decision Science and Computational Science and Engineering. The Fire Safety Engineering Group has won the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher Education in 2002, the top award at the British Computer Society (BCS) IT Awards in 2001 and the European IST (Information Society Technologies) Prize in 2003 for its EXODUS software.
So what programme would you choose? Perhaps you could join others on our MSc Computer Security Forensics and Risk Management programme. It's a programme suitable for both the newcomer to computer security and auditing and the practitioner who wishes to further their skills. It covers relevant skills, software and hardware technologies as well as more theoretical studies that underpin everyday practice. Graduates will therefore be able to contribute quickly to the well-being of corporate IT and informational assets.
The University of Greenwich has a wide range of programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate, in architecture, business, construction, engineering, science, as well as the computing and mathematical programmes mentioned above. Why not contact us to see what exciting programmes we can offer you?
