'Inter-school quiz competition 2009', organized by the Commerce Union of Wesley College will take place on July 15, 2009 from 2.30 pm onwards in the college main hall. This competition comprises of different forms of short questions in relation to the G.C.E advanced level syllabus namely business studies, economics and accounting, and questions on general proficiency to seek their knowledge of the outside world.
Although different types of quiz competitions were organized at Wesley College, it's the first time in Wesley's history that such a tri-lingual quiz competition is organized. Questions will be presented in the three main languages English, Sinhala and Tamil for the comfort of the participants. Over 30 schools have been invited and over 150 students are competing to become the champions of the 'inter-school quiz competition 2009' to make their school proud.
Walking through the memories of 'The Commerce Union of Wesley College ' it has been one of the most active societies in the school, having organized many competitions and won many, Wesley indeed has brought out the potential and gifted many talented youngsters who have later become leaders of this great nation. 'Wesley College Commerce Day' which is held annually had been an afternoon of great performance over the past decade and has always been the talk of the town. It has always been certainly the most anticipated event of all schools.
Mr. Dilshan Perera being the master-in-charge for over 14 years always encouraged students and has been the back bone of the Commerce Union. His valuable guidance had been the key to many successful activities. The Acting Principal Dr. Shanti McLalland and Vice Principal Rev. Shihan Fernando have given their fullest co-operation and guidance for the betterment of the students, the Commerce Union and the school at large. Their valuable guidance to make this event a success is truly appreciated.
Indeed with such guidance there's no room for error. Current commerce union president Manoj Kularatne, Secretary Raveen Perera and project chairman Assan Meedin and their fellow committee members have devoted their time and effort from the start to organize this event successfully. This young, active, energetic committee has been organizing many successful events inside the school.
Now they have reached the next level and taken on the challenge of organizing a quiz competition among schools. So let the best unfold on the 15th of July 2009 and may the best school win.
