Academy Award nominated Western movie '3:10 to Yuma', starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale will be screened at 6 pm on August 26 at the American Centre, Colombo 3.
The second adaptation of Elmore Leonard's short story is written by Halsted Welles, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas and the film was nominated for two academy awards.
In Arizona in the late 1800s, infamous outlaw Ben Wade and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans, struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the "3:10 to Yuma," a train that will take the killer to trial. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other's respect. But with Wade's outfit on their trail--and dangers at every turn--the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man's destiny.
Produced in 2007 the film was shot in New Mexico and others in the cast include Peter Fonda, Gretchen Mol Ben Foster, Dallas Roberts and Alan Tudyk.
The film received two Academy Award nominations for the 80th Academy Awards. Marco Beltrami was nominated for Best Original Score, and Paul Massey, David Giammarco, and Jim Steube were nominated for Best Sound Mixing. |
