PR key to create good first impressions
 

Immigration officers at the Colombo Airport, should have a knowledge of public relations so that all foreigners entering the country gets a good impression of the people and the country, said Gowri Shankar, President, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Sri Lanka Division.

Speaking at at a recent media briefing on the visit of HR Guru Prof Dave Ulrich who will be in Sri Lanka for an HR conference, she said, "In Singapore when you get into a taxi even the driver shows that he has some knowledge of public relations." She said that incidentally Prof Ulrich is a consultant to the Singapore government and he would have contributed to this attitude.

CIMA Sri Lanka Division and the Institute of Personnel Management, Sri Lanka have joined hands with several other professional organizations in inviting Prof Dave Ulrich, to address HR Managers and CEOs at a conference in Colombo on October 24.
