A dramatic conflict of family, friends and lovers

A mega teleplay around the happenings of music band of five young boys and their family members is the theme for Ravindra Wijeratne’s latest direction and Sanya Mendis’s production ‘Api, Api Wage’ (We, are Us).

Starring Sriyantha Mendis, Janak Premalal, Jagath Chamila, Sujani Menaka, Hashinika Karaliyadda, Chamila Peiris, Iresha Ranasinghe, Gayan Wickremasinghe, Shalani Tharuka, Chandra Kaluarachchi and Deepani Silva, it is being telecast every weekday except Wednesday at 9 pm on ITN.

The main story is set in the backdrop of Amaranatha, a teacher in a leading school and his wife and three children Binara, Esala and Nikini. Esala is the second son of the family and the teledrama opens with Esala leading the members of his music band Tisara, Vatsara, Devinda and Sandaru to his house for a practice session. Esala manages to get the approval of everyone in the family except his father and practices are continued without the knowledge of Amaranatha.

In the meantime, an affair develops between Tisara and Nikini, Esala’s sister. But they manage to keep it a secret. At the same time Tisara gets a proposal to a doctor Neranjala. Soon the music group gains popularity but they too undergo a series of debacles due to conflict of ideas especially with regard to how their external appearance should be.

The teledrama takes a dramatic turn when it is revealed that Tisara is suffering from a serious disease. This nearly breaks his affair with Nikini.

And ‘Ape, Api Wage’ evolves through a series of human conflicts that occur between different families, parents and children and between friends making it an interesting miniplay. Api, Api Wage is presented Susila Production.
