Do you feel happy for the slightest thing? Do you know a few people who feel happy easily? Aren't there some who do not feel happy easily? If you think about this quietly, I'm sure you'll realize that some people feel happy easily and some do not. Many explorers on happiness have described the phenomena of a pattern of happiness. What this simply means is that each person has a pattern of happiness that you tend to return to, no matter what happens.
Can be enhanced
Your pattern of happiness is a result of your genes, environment, upbringing, concepts and mostly your habitual thoughts and feelings. The good news is that you are able to improve your habitual thoughts and feelings and enhance your pattern of happiness. Yes! Irrespective of how your life is doing right now and what you have in life now, you are able to be happier- easily.\
Searching for happiness
Generally we live our entire lives searching for happiness - trying to get things that will make us happy. There is nothing wrong in getting what you want. However when we know that a pattern of happiness is set within us and we can improve it by simply changing how we react to our thoughts and feelings, you begin to feel happy more easily.
Easily unhappy
When your pattern of happiness makes sure that you do not feel happy easily, you tend to feel unhappy more often. Feeling sad, miserable, gloomy, cheerless, heartbreaking, discontented, dejected, sorrowful, and distressing occur easily. This pattern of unhappiness also can easily be overcome by changing your habitual thoughts and feelings and your reactions to them.
Happy for a Cause and for No Cause
When your pattern of happiness is to feel happy for a cause - you will be happy by getting something, more money, passing an exam, a promotion at office, a new house, better vehicle, palatable meals, trip to an exotic location…..and you will be happy as you receive each - for some time.
If your pattern of happiness has no cause to be happy, you'll then be happy for no cause. Happiness, gladness, joy, glee, delight, cheerfulness, bliss and ecstasy will then be present within you continuously. You'll often be happy, easily be happy. Happiness, joy and ecstasy will become part of your life. It will emerge effortlessly, no special occurrence will be required to be happy. You'll simply be happy for no cause. Happiness will be your nature.
Your pattern
Ask yourself the following questions. Allow whatever answers to arise, and avoid the urge to examine whether the answers are right or wrong. Simply ask the questions and witness what you feel.
Are you naturally happy?
Do you often live in the present?
Is life a pleasing experience?
Do you feel happy easily?
Do you like who you are?
Do you feel grateful for what you've got in life?
As you continue asking these questions and witnessing what happens in your mind you'll realize the nature of your pattern of happiness. You'll notice how happy you are, what makes you happy, reasons for unhappiness and gently realize the wisdom of being happy for no cause.
Until we meet again …..be happy.
