A ‘CxO’ survey on challenges and opportunities in business technology by MTI Consulting will highlight the immediate demands of organizations, how businesses approach business technology planning and investment, current activities for technology optimization and candid perspectives on management and IT synchronization. An MTI press release stated that the survey will be drawing to a close shortly in the run up to MTI’s Technology Forum which will take place on September 24, 2009.
Preliminary findings indicate businesses are consolidating current IT resources as opposed to new spending, the press release stated. Efforts are directed at techniques for efficient use of server/processing resources, application licences and communication links. Hard questions are being asked on the contribution of individual cost components; questions glossed over in times of liberal budgets.
An area of some concern appears to be a continued ‘hands-off’ approach of senior management when it comes to IT – certainly a point of discussion for the Forum’s panellists.
Speakers and panellists at the forum include Dr. Anush Amarasinghe, COO Millennium IT, Madu Ratnayake, General Manager Virtusa Sri Lanka, Ravi Fernando, CEO Sri Lanka Institute of Nano-Technology (SLINTEC), Rohan Muttiah, Chief Information Officer, Commercial Bank, Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, Country Manager Microsoft and Sujiva Devaraja, Executive Vice President/Head of IT Sector, JKH. |
