Intel recently introduced its newest range of microprocessors for mainstream desktop computers based on its new generation Nehalem micro architecture. Priced at Rs. 65,000.00 and upwards, the Core i5 and i7 microprocessor series were first launched in USA on September 8. Additionally, these products are considered best suited for "top-notch performance for digital media, productivity, gaming and other demanding applications", according to Intel's launch announcement.
Showcased locally for the first time on the sidelines of last week's local leg of the World Cyber Games 2009, of which Intel is also a global sponsor, the products were debuted at ExcelWorld in Colombo, the venue of the finals of these local cyber championships. Here, using gaming demonstrations powered by its new Core i5-700 microprocessor series, Suriyanarayan B., the company's Director of Sales & Marketing (South) promised users "smoother and more realistic gaming". At the same time, he indicated that 150,000 microprocessors were already available in 70 countries while also adding that Intel had made sure that motherboard manufacturers such as itself, Asus, Foxconn and others were appropriately prepared to meet requirements as well. |
