Joe’s go on air

The radio club of St. Joseph’s college always found a practical purpose in almost all college functions in the past and its service has been innumerable.

The present board of the radio club along with the Rector Rev. Fr. Sylvester Ranasinghe and teacher-in-charge Mr. Christopher Gamage hope to dawn a new era to the once glorious JARC. The club is organizing a 3-day long radio broadcast on the frequency of 96.1 and also will be available for listeners online. The broadcast will be from October 2 - 4, from 6am to 11pm, at the Josephian Radio Lab, located inside the College premises.

The main objectives are granting students the broadcasting experience, developing an interest and developing future broadcasters as a whole, and theoretical and practical knowledge being gained by the modern generation.

All schools in Colombo and the outskirts will be made aware of the club and the broadcast happening on the aforementioned dates. The main target audience for this broadcast are school goers or teens, while it would also include the pro-radio club supporters from all over the country.

There will also be programmes for all branches of listening ranging from classics to modern pop. With the basic foundation of the project laid down, it is resources that are required to make it a reality.

Companies and organizations will be approached for financial aid and this aid will be converted to advertisements which will be broadcast on air live.
