Panadol For Children (PFC), a paracetamol-based brand of consumer healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), is now manufactured locally at GSK’s factory in Ratmalana. The company began local production of PFC liquid in September 2009 to international standards, that customers of this product are accustomed to, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on this milestone, Minister of Industrial Development, Kumar Welgama said, “I am happy that Panadol For Children which was imported from Indonesia and distributed is to be replaced by the locally manufactured items.
This would enable Sri Lanka to save valuable foreign exchange and also encourage the local manufacturing industry.”
The manufacturing of PFC locally is a milestone for GSK, harnessing the country’s ability to produce high quality medical products locally.
“By producing Panadol For Children locally we wish to make the point that Sri Lanka is a country capable of producing high quality products to rigorous international standards and stand as a benchmark for standards and capability to other countries,” said Sachi Thomas, Managing Director of GSK Consumer Healthcare. |
