Clarke was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy without playing a single game after picking up an injury during the NatWest series in England.
The batsman is expected to meet with New South Wales team doctor John Orchard to have his back complaint assessed.
"It's good to be back home now. It gives me a chance to get my back right and get the treatment I need to get and I'll worry about the future after that," Clarke said.
"I'm very confident, I'm in good hands. I'll get a lot of treatment back home and I'm hoping I'll be right for India.
"We're confident it is an injury that will heal."
The 28-year is determined to do whatever it takes to recover in time for the tour of India after physiotherapy in South Africa failed to mend his back problems.
"For me it's about (doing) whatever I have to do, rehab-(wise) and treatment-wise, to get fit and get onto that tour," Clarke said.
"Over the last seven days in South Africa, I haven't done much. I've spent plenty of time in bed and with plenty of treatment from the Australian physio," he told abc.net.au.
"Unfortunately it hasn't really improved so the guys have sent me home to get it right as soon as possible."It's hard to give a time-frame (for a return)." -
