To maintain high standards of educational conduct it is essential to uplift the knowledge and skills of our teachers. This aspiration came into light on October 9 when The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) conducted a successful seminar for teachers in the Western Province under the seminar series 'Guru Nena' as part of the Institute's corporate responsibility.
This seminar was held specifically to discuss the new Accountancy syllabus which is to be applied in the near future for schools. The basic components of this new syllabus, the background knowledge of the new concepts and a thorough explanation on the technique of extracting this new knowledge to the minds of the student were carefully articulated at this seminar.
Mr. J.D Hemachandra Provincial Director for Education in the Western Province and Mr. Nishan Fernando President of ICASL graced the occasion; the seminar was conducted by three eminent speakers, Mr. G.A Dayananda and Mr. Anil Fernando both of whom are Senior Lecturers of the Department of Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Mr. T. Dharmarajah a council member of the Institute and Chairman of Student Promotions Committee. These lecturers explained in depth the global accounting knowledge which is of vital importance for our students and provided the teachers in detail of how to contribute towards the creation of an intellectual student.
This seminar was of immense success with a participation of over 400 teachers from the Western Province schools. The ICASL which is the leading Accountancy education provider of our country continues to uplift the standards of the subject through events of this calibre which contribute immensely towards a student's voyage in education which is directed by teachers. The ICASL is at present at the peak of its popularity with over 30,000 students registered and has produced over 4,000 members who excel in diverse business entities today. |
