What is the truth in the world we live in? Where does it exist, who has talked about it and where is it written? Questions similar to these may have arisen in your mind sometime. Your may have thought about these momentarily and discussed similar issues with diverse people. By now you may have arrived at a conclusion on the truth of life.
Another cannot exist
Accepting the existence of a truth, different to what one believes as the truth is difficult for some. Accepting the possibility that many truths could coexist is hard for them; and hearing or reading about such causes discomfort in them. Unhappiness and dissatisfaction often arise in such people.
They continuously live in conflict with other religions and philosophies and feel agitated about the existence of these. Rejecting other views creates obstacles to happiness. Such people believe it is their duty to protect the things they believe as the truth. There is nothing wrong in doing so but doing so is attachment. As glue binds a stamp to an envelope attachment binds you. You then feel happy when what you believe is praised, and unknowingly feel unhappy to opposing views.
Could another coexist?
You may now wonder whether a truth dissimilar to the truth you believe could coexist. The happenings in this universe are endless, what can occur limitless and the possibilities are infinite. Yes! Anything can happen. This is simply the nature of existence. If someone tells you that your body is mostly empty space - can it be true? If you have not heard this before, you'll most likely discard this as nonsense. Why will you do so, because the body can be seen and felt. However quantum physicists reveal a truth quite different to what our mind perceives. They say the atom which is the building block of our body is essentially empty space and the body is built by a collection of empty space.
Accepting different views
Accepting different views allows happiness to arise freely. Various views about something could exist and this is the nature of existence. The possibilities are endless and often the mind does not grasp this. It feels that what it learns, understands and finally realizes is accurate. Resistance arises towards what one feels is incorrect and this generates discomfort.
Accepting the possibility for many truths to exist creates peace of mind. Knowing that a truth is true to you and another truth that is true to another person, both can coexist and accepting this phenomena brings tranquility.
Realizing that truth is simply a concept created by mind helps you to let go of most concepts you hold on to. You are then more able to accept other views. When the mind is able to do so feeling neither good nor bad about them, resistance of the mind disappears. Happiness arises easily in a resistance-less mind.
Need not let go of
You need not let go of your views and beliefs to allow another view to coexist. Acceptance is not attachment. As a library allows endless books to exist you are able to allow your mind to accept different views. As you accept other views with neither attachment nor aversion you'll notice that views will simply come and go as water trickles off a lotus leave. This is a beautiful state of mind and awakening such a state of mind will give you great joy. Happiness will then arise and prevail in your life, endlessly.
Boundless blessings!
