Leggie Madushan wrecks Richmond

Right arm leggie Madushan Ravichandrakumara wrecked the Richmond batting line up in their second innings to give S. Thomas’ an emphatic innings and 95 runs win in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Mt Lavinia yesterday. The 14-year-old Grade nine student playing his first season for the Thomians ended up with impressive match figures of 7 for 29 as the visitors went in pursuit of erasing a deficit of 206 runs to avoid an imminent defeat and were bowled out for 111.

Thurstan home for lunch

Thurstan were home for lunch when they outclassed Wesley by eight wickets in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter at the Thurstan ground in Reid Avenue yesterday.

Thurstan had put themselves in a strong position when play ended on Friday. After bundling out the Wesleyites for 79, Thurstan declared at 190 for 8. This gave them a clear lead of 111 runs.

Royal crush St. Benedict’s

Royal crushed St. Benedict’s by an innings and 83 runs in their Under 19 game at Kotahena yesterday. The Bens came into the game on day two with immense pressure after being badly placed on 45 for 6 in reply to Royal’s 302 for 7 declared.

The second day’s play saw the Bens being unable to make any headway as they were able to add only a further 13 runs - crashing to a lowly 58.
