Fast track to University with MIBT |
With seven pathway programmes that lead into the second year of over 40 undergraduate courses at Deakin University, Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology Pty Ltd (MIBT) is your pathway to university admission.
In partnership with Deakin University since 1996, the units in MIBT's programmes contain the same first year units taught at Deakin, but delivered with a different structure from most conventional tertiary methods. With a smaller class size and more contact time, students have greater personal and academic support from their lecturers who are able to focus more on the individual student.
According to Sayuri from Sri Lanka, and an MIBT graduate now at Deakin, the small classes and increased interaction with the lecturers really appealed to her,
"When I first arrived, the biggest difference I noticed was in the academic structure between Sri Lanka and here. Back home, we only sat for exams, and had no assignments to do, so it was quite a shift of study culture for me. Thankfully, the lecturers at MIBT were really helpful and supportive.
MIBT also has a unique teaching style, where we studied tertiary level subjects in small classes. The extra contact time also helped to build a strong foundation which I found very beneficial when I moved on to Deakin.
Also, the small classes meant it was a lot easier to make friends who were from all over the world. Many of my classmates went on with me to Deakin, making the transition less apprehensive as I already had a core group of friends when I went to second year."
Although MIBT's pathway programme is generally conducted over a period of 12 months, students are also given the choice to fast track their studies and complete it in as little as eight months, allowing them to catch up with their peers who may have entered university earlier. MIBT also offers three semesters every year, allowing students to commence their studies at a convenient time. This appealed to Sayuri,
"I first came across MIBT at a fair in Sri Lanka, and I was very interested by what MIBT had to offer. By going through MIBT, not only would I be eligible for entry into the second year of my desired course, I would also gain a diploma in the process, with no loss of time at all."
MIBT offers accredited courses in Commerce, Computing, Engineering, Health Sciences, Management, Media and Communication, and Science. Upon completion, the student can transfer into second year of the relevant Bachelor's degree at Deakin University. Fields of studies at Deakin University include Accounting, Law, Marketing, Public Relations, Forensic Science, Nutrition, International Business and I.T to name a few.
Located on Deakin's Melbourne Campus at Burwood and Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds, MIBT students have full access to Deakin's facilities and services which Sayuri found very beneficial,
"Being an MIBT student also meant that I had access to the facilities and resources available at Deakin throughout my studies at MIBT.
My time at MIBT will always be remembered fondly. If you are looking for a good pathway to university, good lecturers, a good study environment and good fun, look no further. Come to MIBT."
