Power House Road, Jaffna, still closed to the public

I write on behalf of the owners of properties situated along Power House Road, Jaffna. This road has been closed to the public for the past several years, preventing house owners from returning to their properties on Power House Road.

It is strange that this road continues to remain closed, while all other roads in the country have been opened and barricades removed, including the A9 Road and the section of the Galle Road in Kollupitiya, opposite Temple Trees.

We appeal to the authorities to open this road to the public. There is an urgent need for commercial space in Jaffna. Power House Road runs through a prime commercial area in Jaffna Town. This road, from the Jaffna bus stand to Wellington Junction, should be opened on a priority basis so the town can develop fast.

K. Selvarathnam, Dehiwela
