The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) nabbed two gem dealers allegedly selling visas for travel to Italy and Australia.
The two men were arrested from their shop in Maradana by a CID decoy who made an initial payment of Rs. 200,000.
The agents had taken the officer to a location in Katuneriya, Negombo where the required documents were being prepared.
During the raid, CID sleuths detected forged stickers, letterheads and at least 15 passports.
CID officials said the men used information from Sri Lankans who had travelled to Italy and Australia to be included in forged documents.
They said the racketeers charged up to one million rupees each to prepare forged documents and visas.
