Embarrassed and almost humbled a week ago, the Anthonians hit back at the Trinitians with a vengeance to score a stunning 77 run win over the latter in their 30th limited over match at Katugastota yesterday.
Opener Hiran Wickremasekera set the stage with a polished 74 and added 98 for the second wicket with Sarachchandra before the latter nobly sacrificed his wicket to save his partner. Reyal started quietly and then exploded, taking 21 off Jayasundera’s over.
233 was a gettable target but Trinity approached it badly and was soon under pressure. Except for Wijesuriya, Jaleel, Wickrema, Dikwella and Jayasundera, the others cut a sorry figure.
Reyal with four wickets, two catches and a fifty walked away with the Man of the Match award.
