Run a mile for charity

By David Stephens

Sri Lankan cricket legend Aravinda de Silva joined one hundred and eighteen staff members of the British High Commission, along with their families and friends for the Sports Relief Mile held yesterday down Bauddhaloka Mawatha.

The World Cup winning batsman made a dashing entrance in his sleek red Ferrari before quickly edging his way to the front of the crowd to lead the runners toward Borella.

The Sport Relief Mile is an initiative launched by The British High Commission to aid the Foundation of Goodness which supports the village of Seenigama and its surrounding areas.

This is the first time the Sports Relief Mile has been organized in Sri Lanka. Among the many participants who joined Aravinda were British High Commissioner, Dr. Peter Hayes and Foundation of Goodness founder, Kushil Gunasekera.
