The Sylvestrians scented victory with Vidyartha on 83 for 8 and a lead of under 10 runs, but a brake with ninth wicket stand of fifty five unbroken between Kheshan Gamage and Tilina Rupasena saved Vidyartha’s blushes in their drawn Big Match at the Asgiriya Stadiuym.
Earlier, Sylvestrians Ruwantha Ekanayake (74) and Dileepa Gayeshan had combined to produce 146 for the fifth wicket. Wijesinghe (43) also batted well at the top of the order. Spinners Attanayake and Wickremasinghe bagged 3 each for Vidyartha.
The Sylvestrians had Vidyartha in a firm grip, but they couldn’t break the ninth wicket partnership. They did most of the running, but could not come out on top.
