Developing strategy through an understanding of Brand Valuation

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region in association with Asian Alliance Insurance PLC has organized a programme titled 'Developing strategy through an understanding of brand valuation' under the CIM Talking Point series scheduled to be held on May 4, 2010 from 6 p.m. onwards at Palm Lounge, Galle Face Hotel.

The Keynote Speaker at the programme will be Mr. David Haigh, Chief Executive of Brand Finance PLC, UK. Brand valuation entails an integral part of an organisation's marketing performance. At a time where marketers are under increasing pressure to be accountable in their role in organisations, through this programme, CIM Sri Lanka Region expects to enlighten marketers on this topical subject.

Over the years, intangible assets have tipped the scales over tangible assets to create value for companies the world over. However, the management paradigm has not shifted in tandem with the rising importance of intangible assets, one of the problems compounding this situation being the lack of widely recognized and understood methods for measuring brand value. 'Developing Strategy through an understanding of brand valuation' is a programme that will enlighten the audience as to how brand valuations can be used in developing business strategy.

The participants will also be given an insight into the new ISO/DIS 10668 standard that specifies the requirements for procedures and methods of monetary brand value measurement.

The Keynote Speaker at the programme, Mr. David Haigh is the founder of Brand Finance PLC, UK which focuses on value base marketing and technical valuations. He is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK; a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketers and a Member of the Marketing Society, UK. He is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society, the UK Academy of Experts and the Society of the Expert Witnesses to name a few.

Mr. Haigh is also a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and holds a BSc (Hons) from Bristol University. He was also a key member of the committee which drafted the ISO/DIS 10668 standard.

The CIM Talking Point is one of the Continuous Professional Development programmes organised by CIM Sri Lanka Region towards assisting its members to be up-to-date with knowledge and competencies. Asian Alliance Insurance PLC, in their endeavour to harness professionalism has partnered with CIM Sri Lanka Region in organizing this programme.
