‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ - Exhibition of Child Art at the Lionel Wendt

An exhibition of Child Art, 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' will be formally declared open at 6.30 p.m. on Friday May 14, by Mrs. Eisha Speldewinde, the Deputy Principal of Ladies' College. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday May 15 and 16 respectively from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Altogether 35 students from Ladies' College, Muslim Ladies' College, Musaeus College, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, The British School in Colombo, Methodist College, Gateway International School, A.B.C. Montessori School, Royal Institute, Asian International School and Colombo International School will exhibit a collection of 140 paintings. They have used mostly oil pastels and acrylic paint, while some have done collages as well.

All the paintings that will be exhibited are for sale and it is the desire of these little artists to donate a part of the sale proceeds towards a project, the beneficiaries of which would be children with Cancer. The proceeds of the exhibition held in Oct./Nov. 2007 was utilized to provide a DVD player, DVDs surround sound system, clothes, books, cupboards for books, etc. to the Children's Ward at the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama.
