4th richest man in town

Mukesh Ambani

When celebrities arrive next week for the high-profile International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) weekend in Colombo, among them will be the world’s fourth richest man.

Mukesh Ambani, 53 years and chairman and managing director of India’s giant Reliance Industries, has confirmed his participation with the highpoint of his 24-hour visit being a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss investment options, official sources said, adding that he would take part in IIFA’s business forum.

The wealthy businessman will fly into Sri Lanka in his own personal jet. Mr Ambani was listed as the fourth richest man in the world by Forbes Magazine this year with a personal wealth of US$ 29 billion. In 2007, he was named the richest man ousting Microsoft’s Bill Gates from that position.
