The Kandy Chief Magistrate will rule on the anticipatory bail applications of four Peradeniya undergraduates tomorrow.
The students from the Faculties of Law, Medicine and Engineering of the University of Peradeniya filed their pleas on Wednesday.
Their move came as the Peradeniya Police investigated the four undergraduates’ role in a demonstration staged by university students when Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake visited the Peradeniya campus to open the administrative building of the Law Faculty.
The four undergraduates are seeking anticipatory bail to avert arrest by police.
Attorney-at-Law Saman Thantrige appeared for the undergraduates.
Attorney-at-Law Nanda Senanayake appeared with Peradeniya Police for the prosecution. |
