The use of ball boys at the boundary, purely for the benefit of advertising seems fair enough – till you realize that these children are cutting school to be there.
As a responsible body of sport, I am appalled that those responsible see nothing wrong with depriving them of their education by luring them with a payment.
Aside from the dangers of a ball hitting them on the face, again due to angled advertising boundary cords, these boys present a poor example of ethical responsibility. At a time when the ‘Kade Kolla’ has disappeared and the habit of getting a boy from the village to help around the house is no longer acceptable, this blatant disregard to the law of the land is deplorable.
Education is paramount for any child and even the odd day of missed school is outrageous, especially when officially encouraged by a board now controlled by the government. |
