SLIM intake students for PCM

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing being the national body of marketers with over 40 years experience, completed another intake of students on June 17 2010 for its Preliminary Certificate in Marketing well known as PCM.

PCM being launched in 1988 has been a preliminary programme that has been sought by many in the marketing field as the first step of learning in the field of marketing. Today the programme has taken many revisions to meet the ever changing challenges of the market.

The certificate course is constructed to cover the basic marketing concepts and theories that would be covered within a period of three months with 40 hours of classroom session, where a practical situation will be used in the form of an assignment where students would be in a position to apply the theory learned to real life situations.

PCM course is ideally suitable for those who are interested in gaining a basic knowledge in marketing, and is not restricted to those who are already in the field of marketing or pursuing a future in marketing.
Thus, it is open to even individuals in other professions who desire to obtain a knowledge in marketing.
The eligibility criteria are: the age of 16 or above, and a good command of English.

In addition to SLIM being recognized as a professional body in marketing, it is recognized for its glamorous event known as SLIM Sri Lanka Effies, which is looked forward to by the corporate sector of the Sri Lankan market as an annual event. Further, it is renowned for its National level events such as Brand Excellence, People's Awards and National Sales Congress (NASCO).

Today SLIM operations are centralized in Colombo with two business schools in Colpetty and Kandy and two E/reference libraries have franchised its operation to 10 selected regions in the country which have been identified as key regions of importance.

The institute has already paved the way to launching a new British MBA programme through the Buckinghamshire New University, UK which has been a leading institution with 100 years of experience.
Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the national body of marketing launched an innovative programme entitled SLIM Marketing Roks to educate the youth of Sri Lanka on Marketing as a profession.

This is the first time in Sri Lanka that a professional educational association has launched a community driven programme of such a magnitude and at a national level. The programme was conceptualised to give school leavers and potential marketers an orientation in marketing as a career.
