The finals of the St. Eugene’s Trophy basketball tournament will be worked off today at the Depot Police Courts, Bambalapitiya starting at 6 pm. Matches in the competition however will be worked off at the same venue from 8 am onwards.
The two day competition is being organized by members of St. Eugene’s Association of former Oblate Seminarians.
The Chief Guest at the finals today will be Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Fernando, former Rector of the National Seminary. The Guests of Honour are Rev Fr. Bob Rodrigo OMI and Mr. Chandana Weerabahu.The leading teams who are in the fray after the first day’s games are as follows:
Group A – Wattala Golds and Old Greens; Group B – Royal and S. Eugene; Group C: St. Joseph’s Seminary and Lycium; Group D: Old Bens Greens and Joes.
In the girls section Track Masters and Air Force are the leading contenders. |
