Swirling dancers in sequinnedcostumes, pulsating sounds, fast moves and the excitement of competition…it was all there at the Footwork International Dancesport Championship at the Colombo Hilton when some 60 local dancers and foreign participants vied for the honours last Sunday in a keenly contested competition.
The Dancesport Championship is the brain child of leading ballroom dancer Dharshan Wijesooriya, whose aim is to see the sport gain recognition in the country.
