‘Corrine Almeida and The Beatbox’, the newest band to hit the scene in town, will have their launch at the Clancy’s on Wednesday, 20 October at 7.00 pm.
Corrine Almeida leader started with the band summerset, joined The Gysies in 1991 till 2003 dec. Was freelancin since then doing guest spots @ almost every dance, show, & tourin many countries.
‘Corrine Almeida and The Beatbox’ comprises Sanjeeva Uyanhewa on Keyboard, Anton Deshapriya on Keyboards, Vipula Fernando on Bass, Nadeesha Fernando on Drums and M Sherrif on guitar.
Sanjeeva started his music career with Dream Team and was playing overseas for a short while in Maldives and Oman. Formed his own band ‘Spark’ and perfomed in Dubai for 3 years.
Anton Deshapriya is a veteran keyboardist played with Rajiv & the Clan, Ecstasy and later with ‘Sohan & the X-Periments’. Vipula Fernando too played with Rajiv & the Clan, formed his own band ‘MALE 4’ and played in the Maldives and Dubai for 4 years.
Nadeesha started with Simple, and then played for Spark in Dubai and Maldives. Guitarist Sherrif was with the band ‘Sun Beams’ and with Zodiac and Spark.
’We cater to all walks of lives and play any type of music ranging from 60’s to date. Our repertoire ranging from rock to rock N’ roll to disco and blues, jazz, pop reggae and modern hip hop too. Our target audience is corporate clientele, young adults and retro fans’ Corrine said. |
