IPM Graduation Ceremony 2010

The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) well known as the Nation's Leader in Human Resources Management is planning their Graduation Ceremony to be held on October 25 at Hotel Galadari (Grand Ball Room) Colombo. Around 175 students will pass out having obtained a Professional Qualification which would contribute immensely for their future career development in the field of Human Resource Management. The passing out students include those who followed the Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management (PQHRM), the National Diploma in Human Resource Management (NDHRM), and the National Diploma in Training and Development (NDTD).IPM PQHRM is the highest local Professional HRM qualification at present in Sri Lanka.

The Chief Guest at this ceremony is Deputy Minister, Nandimithra Ekanayake and the Guest of Honour is Professor A.D.V. De S. Indraratna, President - Organization of Professional Associations (OPA).Prof. Gamini de Alwis, Senior Lecturer, University of Colombo, Visiting Faculty member of the IPM Business School will be awarded with an honorary membership of IPM, while Mr. C. Gannile, Council member of the IPM Governing Council will be awarded Fellow Membership status(FIPM), which is the highest professional membership status in the institute.

IPM Sri Lanka has made a name for itself for possessing the acumen and the current perspectives to take on the critical role of developing the present and future HR professionals. The IPM Graduation Ceremony 2010 is yet another important event in the IPM calendar to fulfil the requirements of all those who had made the choice of becoming HR professionals, and another milestone on their path of professional development.

IPM Business School provides Professional education which is dynamic and proactive. At any given time the business school has on roll 3500 students following various courses from Foundation level to PQHRM level. The business school conducts study programmes not only in Colombo but also in outstation centres such as Jaffna, Matara, Kurunegala and Kandy. IPM contributes to the professional growth within the country by nurturing future leaders who could take leading positions in the motherland and in Asia, in managing people. Recently the IPM Governing council has taken initiatives to revise the syllabus of the PQHRM in order to cater to the present demand in HRM and future changes of the HR profession. In addition to that the business school management committee has taken initiatives to acquire the ISO standard certification by mid next year. Mr. Ajith R de Costa, President IPM Sri Lanka said.

In 2009, IPM formed partnerships with both local and foreign universities to create a path for those who pass out with the PQHRM, for further studies and postgraduate qualifications. Accordingly, the Institute has contributed its professional acumen to commence the MBA (HRM) with the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), and signed an MOU with the Northumbria University/UK to enable B.A. (Hons.) in Leadership and Management degree to be completed in Sri Lanka.

The IPM Business School engages in varied types of activities to provide services expected by the Act and the mission of the Institute. The Business School could be considered as the heart of our institute as well as the main knowledge hub in the field of Human Resource Management in the island. Business School offers its services from CEOs to school leavers to enhance their competencies in the field of Human Resource management .Also IPM is getting geared up to contribute towards the national HR Policy and the changes envisaged under an economic resurgence within the country.

The Institute has managed to enlist the services and expertise in a large number of professionals to achieve this objective. As a leader in HRM, IPM will make every effort to meet the current and future challenges of HR Professionals.

IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management (APFHRM) and World Federation of Human Resources Management Associations (WFHRM).
