The annual National Leadership Development Seminar of AIESEC Sri Lanka was held from October 14 to 17 at the MAS Institute of Management and Technology, Thulhiriya. AIESEC is a global youth driven organization present in 110 countries and territories. The special highlight of this year's seminar was that it coincided with the celebration of 15 years of existence of AIESEC Sri Lanka.
The conference was made possible by the involvement of AIESEC's National Knowledge Partner: CIMA, Main Conference Sponsor: IPM, Media Partner Sunday Times, Silver Partner: Virtusa and Printing partner Nelus. Overseas Education, Imperial College, National Lotteries Board and Rigam were special in their contribution as sponsors of the National Leadership Development Seminar 2010. Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, Diana Biscuits, Sunrich Biscuits, Akhthari Traders (Pvt) Ltd. and Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. were on board the conference as In Kind partners.
The seminar was attended by students of Universities of Moratuwa, Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardenapura, Colombo, Wayamba, Peradeniya and National Institute of Social Development.
Members of the international AIESEC network were a part of this spectacular event. International facilitators from Switzerland, India, Austria, China and Morocco attended this event in order to be a part of the shaping of the future generation of leaders of AIESEC Sri Lanka. The four day residential seminar focused on self development and discovery through leadership and skill development.
Leadership and skill development sessions were carried out by the representatives of Virtusa, CIMA and IPM.
The AIESEC CIMA Awards Night 2010 sponsored by CIMA, honoured AIESECers past and present and AIESEC partners who have made a significant contribution in their respective fields. The 15 years celebration of AIESEC Sri Lanka was marked by a panel discussion including the past Presidents of AIESEC Sri Lanka. An event which marked this conference was the launch of the partnership between AIESEC Sri Lanka and Junior Chamber International. The Sri Lankan Chapter President of Junior Chambers International, JC Azard Ishak was present to sign the memorandum of understanding as the "national heading for the future partner" of AIESEC in Sri Lanka.
The annual National Leadership Development Seminar of AIESEC Sri Lanka closed on October 17 having had an attendance of over 200 delegates. AIESEC Sri Lanka strives through its work to make a positive impact on society through the unique development AIESEC members undergo.
