The United Students' Circle of Royal College has taken the initiative to organize the first ever "Acapella" inter school competition, namely "Eve of Acapella", which will take place on the November 9 from 6pm onwards at the Bishop's College Auditorium. This unprecedented teen musical event will be done in a grand scale parallel with the 175th anniversary celebrations of Royal College.

The event will be open to the public and tickets will be available at the Bishop's College Auditorium as well as the Royal College Union from Monday the 1st of November. Tickets will be priced at :- Rs.400/=(balcony), Rs.300/=, Rs.550/=, Rs.650/=, Rs.800/=.

Acapella is a style of singing without using any musical instruments. So basically all the musical sounds should be brought out purely through the vocal chords. It was an enthusiastic idea when the committee first came up with it. Three weeks back we didn't know where to start with, but with all the commitment the committee put in, we managed to make it happen. We sent out invitations to more than 50 schools to areas like Colombo, Kandy, Negombo etc. and positive remarks are being expected yet from more schools apart from the schools that confirmed.

Apart from the Interschool Acapella competition we are having guest performances by Naadro, 1234, The Doobies & The Royal College Choir. We as the organizers believe that the 9th 0f November will be a great opportunity for the public to witness some great young Acapella skills. Not only is it a great opportunity for the public, but it is also of great benefit of the participants to express themselves and show what they are capable of.
