The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCISL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) tomorrow (Monday) amidst a dispute amongst its membership, a court was informed last week.
The Commercial High Court was told by counsel for FCCISL President Kosala Wickramanayake that the meeting will be held on November 15 after a regional chamber went to court complaining of ‘oppression’ and mismanagement by the president and that the AGM was being unduly delayed.
The Anuradhapura Chamber of Commerce, a member of the FCCISL, has filed a petition accusing the federation chief of mismanagement of the chamber affairs and an order that he steps down. Mr Wickramanayake has denied the allegations. Attorney Asoka Weerasuiya is appearing for the plaintiff while Attorney Kalinga Indatissa is representing the defendant. |
