Sri Lanka's Carbon Consulting Company, launched recently, has announced that it will be partnering up with the Sri Lanka Design Festival 2010 to make this year's event carbon neutral. This will be achieved, according to the company, by first measuring th festival's carbon footprint and then buying the equivalent carbon offsets from its UK-based partner Carbon Neutral.
This has also been "confirmed" by Carbon Neutral's Asia Pacific head, Ranee Virdee, who was quoted in the announcement as stating: “The Carbon Consulting Company, through its strategic partnership with the Carbon Neutral Company of UK have mobilised its international resources for this exercise... fashion brands reach those who matter and we see this as an ideal opportunity for this message to be carried across the world."
Further, the company has also suggested its undertaking would result in the Sri Lanka Design Festival 2010, scheduled for November 16, becoming the first carbon neutral event to be held in South Asia. |
