Government-owned Litro Gas took over all the assets of Shell Gas Lanka (Ltd) on Monday in a formal handover ceremony at the Shell office, and has launched production.
Outgoing Shell chairman Walter Sanchez said the Shell’s final board meeting was held on Monday. Litro in which the 51% Shell stake was purchased by Sri Lanka Insurance will come under the chairmanship of Gamini Senerath, Additional Secretary to the President.
Government officials said the name ‘Litro’ has been sent to the Registrar of Companies for approval. They said the company is now under the supervision of Public Enterprises Division of the Finance Ministry and it will be operated as a fully government owned business undertaking. |
