Top names in the global apparel industry and other key sectors such as Patrick Laine, Elisabeth Satouris and Michael Mc Donough along with other key delegates discussed critical issues in Sri Lanka’s apparel sector at the Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) 2010 held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel this week.

The Ethical Fashion Symposium organized by SLDF in partnership with the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) was an event that promoted Sri Lanka’s apparel industry as an exemplary initiative that can deliver ethical fashion products on par with global standards.
Many themes emerged from the day’s discussion, some of which revolved around the role of consumers in creating more ethical economies and whether consumers are willing to pay more for ethically manufactured garments while Sri Lanka’s apparel industry leaders pointed out that the costs of implementing more ethical and eco-friendly manufacturing are often not shared by all the links of the supply chain. |
