Million-rupee seasonal promotion at Bandaranaike airport departure lounge

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd together with its 57 outlets at the Departure Lounge (Departure/ Transit Area) of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) are organising a Departure Floor-wide mega seasonal promotion titled “The BIA Christmas Shopping Festival.”

The BIA Shopping Festival is the first time in the history of the airport that all stores have joined together in a collective manner to promote the airport as a destination.

“We are confident that our airport is on par with international airports in the region and as such, having a promotion such as this seasonal bonanza is the first step in a series of seasonal events that we hope to give all passengers traveling through our doors,” said Prasanna J. Wickramasuriya Chairman, AASL in a press release issued by Sri Lanka Tourism.

The promotion, launched on November 15 will run until January 15, 2011 making it the first mega promotion in the “Visit Sri Lanka 2011” calendar year.

Any passenger, who makes a sales transaction of $10 or more at any of the shops in the Departure and Transit area will be entitled to enter the lucky draw, where five winners will be given the opportunity to win up to a million rupees in total prize money. All taxes which are associated with the winning monies will be borne by AASL.

The first prize winner will receiver Rs.500,000 with Rs.250,000 and Rs.150,000 being won respectively by the 2nd and 3rd prize winners. A fourth place winner will receive Rs.75,000 with the 5th place winner receiving a total of Rs.25,000.
