Aitken Spence, in the forefront of expansion of Sri Lankan hotels in the post-war era, is developing a 20 acre property on the south coast at Ahungalla which will eventually be the island's most luxurious resort with a 6-7 star facility.
A world-renowned Six Senses property with 54 villas is being constructed there with a spa and also 17 villas at the nearby Madu Ganga, opening in 2012. Adjoining these proposed properties is the upmarket Heritance Ahungalla, said Aitken Spence Hotels Managing Director Malin Hapugoda.
The Six Senses property will cater to a tourist class paying $450-500 per room. Other plans already announced by the company includes expansion of the Ramada at Kalutara to 200 rooms, rebuilding Brown Beach hotel to 4-star category with 200 and looking at options in Trincomalee where it owns 100 acres. |
