Established over 50 years ago, the Fashion Design Programme at Northumbria University school of Design is internationally recognised for producing innovative and hands-on designers.
Design communication, conceptual thinking, image presentation and of course individuality are just some of the qualities which combine to drive fashion forward. Over the three years of study with the Academy of Design, students are encouraged to develop their own distinctive design handwriting so that when they graduate, they will be ready to make their mark in the world of fashion too.
During the programme, students are given a chance to experiment with womenswear, menswear, textile, craft and even the apparel industry. Through a combination of tutorial guidance, project critics, lectures, chances to take part in competitions, internship placements, AOD with NU School of Design will help you build your understanding, expertise and portfolio.
AOD's international fashion faculty headed by British fashion designer Stuart MacLeod, plays a key part in delivering global education to young students. At the end of their studies in fashion at AOD, the design experience of the young graduates will be rounded with a great graduating fashion show looked on by big names from the local fashion industry, design industry and educators. At the completion of their education at AOD graduates will not only hold a degree recognized the world-over from the prestigious NU School of Design, but the also make use of AOD's influential network in the local and international design industries to find a rewarding career in fashion.
Academy of Design is currently enrolling for Northumbria University School of Design BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree. This is the first time that a local university is offering a UK design degree to be completed entirely in Sri Lanka, making it not only a convenient but also an extremely economical solution for design enthusiasts who look for international design education.
