Strategy College of Marketing & Business created history by producing two Word Prize winners at the Dec 2010 assessment session, for the Chartered Postgraduate Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK.

First time in Sri Lanka
CIM boasts of a proud history of 100 years with its roots in UK. Sri Lanka is the world's largest international region with over 2000 studying members. This year the overall achievement of World Prizes stand to be the highest since the establishment of CIM in Sri Lanka over 20 years.

World's Number One for 'Emerging Themes'
Ms Dina Pesumal, of 'Strategy' was awarded the World Prize for Emerging Themes, which is a postgraduate Level Subject (Final Stage). 'Emerging Themes' is one of the unique subjects in the new syllabus which gets a postgraduate student to engage in writing a Professional Journal article on a topical issue and its business implications. We caught up with the prize winner Ms Dina Pesumal at a special ceremony organized to felicitate the winners; Dina went on to comment on the 'Razor Sharp' guidance and support she received from her tutor at Strategy, which let her excel in this new subject. 'The new Syllabus has cutting edge subject that further broadened my knowledge horizons which will help me in my career ' she said.

The tutor for the subject Mr Lewie Daisz further commented on this significant achievemet; 'this subject gets a CIM graduate go beyond the conventional knowledge and look at a wide array of themes from social, technological , ecological to even political. Being a new and unique subject, Emerging Themes has challenged the students as well as tutors world over, with lower pass rates. In that context it's a great achievement for the country to have received this honour'

World Number One for 'Managing Marketing'
World Prize recipient for Managing Marketing, Sajith Samaraweera was the second award winner produced form 'Strategy' College of Marketing & Business. Managing Marketing is a subject that takes Diploma students deep into the most relevant management competencies, starting from Managing Teams, Leadership, Measuring, Marketing performance, Quality systems to Operational Finance.
A delighted Sajith spoke to us on his achievement; 'At Strategy learning marketing becomes a lifestyle, when your tutors are established and practising business leaders the insights you get are real and invaluable. This motivated me to apply myself even further. I thank my tutor for raising the bar for the subjects.'

Yasas Hewage the tutor for the subject commented further on Sajith's achievement.
