Union Bank offers free advice to SMEs

The Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) is developing and innovating its product portfolio and services to SME and retail customer segments.

With the objective of adding value to the services offered to the SME sector the bank recently launched Free Advisory Services for Entrepreneur Development. The first programme was held in Kurunegala with the participation of existing and potential SME customers from the area, the bank said in a press release.

Coordinated by the Kurunegala branch of UBC the programme themed, ‘Entrepreneurship Development’ consisted of a training schedule which focused on enhancing the knowledge and skill level of the participants on business conduct, handling challenges in a competitive environment and change management.

Geeth Rajapaksha, National Trainer and District Coordinator for National Productivity Secretariat facilitated the programme under the area “Personal Productivity for Entrepreneurs,” whilst Nissanka Rajapakse, Senior Manager, Audit of Union Bank, conducted a session on Internal Controls.

“Union Bank’s focus on the SME sector provides the bank an edge in a competitive market as the bank is small enough to be flexible to the growing needs of the SME customer and large enough to fuel their success to greater heights and, offers a comprehensive product portfolio to support the growth of the sector,” the statement added.
